His all-7" sets mix funk, soul and breaks with fast, precise cutting. Southpaw Chop works in the same old-school way. He is a Tokyo DJ and producer who plays vinyl only and holds a residency at the long-running "Classics" hip-hop night at Sound Museum Vision. Together as Funky Soul Brother they make short, punchy records that sit between a break and a beat: easy to mix, hard-hitting, and made for DJs who play 45s.

Tracklist

Side A

On The Run (2:33)

Loosey Lusy (1:28)

Side B

Funky Soul Brother (FSB Demo Version) (3:17)

Release details

Artist

Funky Soul Brother (DJ KOCO aka SHIMOKITA & Southpaw Chop)

Label

Southpaw Chop

Catalog No.

SPCWWX-0020

Barcode

4560452132132

Format

7" vinyl single, 45 RPM

Country

Japan (import)

Released

May 30, 2025

Genre

Hip-Hop, Funk, Breaks

Condition

New

Why buy from STOKYO

STOKYO is run by DJs and vinyl heads, and we've been importing Japanese records and analog gear since 2004.
