About the soundtrack

Spirited Away is Studio Ghibli's most celebrated film, winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and its score is one of Joe Hisaishi's most loved. Recorded with the New Japan Philharmonic, it moves from the wistful piano of "One Summer's Day" through the bustle of the bathhouse and Yubaba's chaos to the eerie calm of "The Sixth Station," the train ride across the water that many fans consider the film's emotional center. Youmi Kimura's "Always With Me," sung over the end credits, closes the album. In 2020, Studio Ghibli Records remastered the soundtrack and released it on vinyl for the first time, alongside the Spirited Away image album and the Howl's Moving Castle albums.
