About the album

T-WAVE was Masayoshi Takanaka's sixth album, released on June 1, 1980. It caught him right at the start of his run as Japan's biggest guitar star: bright, sun-soaked fusion built on funk rhythms, Latin percussion and his singing guitar lines. "EARLY BIRD" became a live staple, still played at his Budokan shows a year later, and the album has since become one of the most-loved entry points for listeners discovering Takanaka through the city pop and Japanese fusion revival. This 2025 remaster series gave three of his key albums new Abbey Road masters and color vinyl editions.
